MY WEB 2.0 JOURNAL: BLOGGING FOR SCHOOL LEADERS

Reflect on some of the biggest challenges you face as an administrator, and discuss how blogging could help you address some of these challenges.

During the Pandemic crisis, the leadership of the administrator has to be creative, flexible enough to communicate the school’s long/short term vision and mission, institutional values, opportunities and out

For the administrator, even during the pandemic, the need to find the time and an effective method to communicate with the masses instantly and often remains one of the most important factors for having a successful school/district.  The administrators are constantly faced with the challenge of finding ways to connect, communicate and collaborate effectively and efficiently immediately, frequently and often daily to all stakeholders (i.e., teachers, parents, students, community).

Since Covid 19, I still think blogging is an effective method for administrators to communicate with its stakeholders, but I do not think that blogging should be the only form of communication.  Because all administrators have the duties and responsibilities of attending/scheduling meetings and corresponding with notes, phone calls and emails, etc.,  blogging would drastically reduce their time and energy needed on a daily basis.

As an administrator, using the blog would allow me to keep stakeholders updated of the events, changing headlines or happenings of the school (i.e., professional development, open house, school closing, delays, etc.) with simple announcements/reminders or invites to other forums, blogs or information, obtain instant feedback, share resources and .  Using the blog would allow me to send messages on a platform that is (a) known, liked and used often (b) can be accessed and updated instantly (c) can be put on other forums (i.e. school website, twitter, etc.) and (d) enhanced with podcasting, photo or video clip to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders.

Blogging would also cut down on so many daily phone calls to the front office from stakeholders asking basic questions about events, after school programs, deadlines, lunch menus, report cards, delays, school closings and many other items because it would allow me to connect, share, communicate and collaborate news and events immediately to the masses.
